Romano's name recognition brings the hungry travelers here. I'm queued for 10 to 15 minutes. The wait staff does their best to get the traveler in and out quickly.
I'm served an unexpected bread plate and the waitress pours the EVOO. It's an acquired taste. It tastes like turpentine. A bite of the warm bread releases comfort hormones.
On a cursory glance, all entrees appear to be priced over $20. Nope. I spot one for $16 which appears reasonable compared to the $35 steak.
Pollo Caprese. I wonder why this is lower cost that the other entrees. Small portion? When the plate arrives, I'm happy to see the chicken is bigger than I imagined. The chicken has a slightly bouncy texture indicating it may have been soaked in brine. I'm good with it as it eliminates the choke dryness. The capallini is just there. The grape(?) tomatoes are neutral which in this case is a negative. The buffalo mozzarella tastes of tofu and crumbly texture. It lacks freshness.
I expected better food from Romano's. The waitress did her job well under pressure of testy customers.
