Bearing a name synonymous with designer pizzas enjoyed by the Hollywood elite, the choice was obvious, having never eaten a Puck creation. I ordered the Margherita Pizza ($8.89), created before my eyes and baked in a wood stone oven.
Hits: The pizza was notable for what was absent. Absent was the grease. Absent was the oversaltiness. Absent was the overzealous mounds of cheese. Absent was the tartness of typical tomato sauces. Misses: The pizza needing baking for a minute or so longer to give it a crispier crust. The basil added appealing color but little to the taste.
Did the pizza live up to Wolfgang's reputation? It was a good but not stellar pizza. The pizza’s pedigree demands perfection and, to borrow a phrase from Emeril, a “Bam” that sets it apart from the competition. Neither of these objectives were met.
Date unsure Mon 1/7 or Sun 1/13?
