TV Exposure: A Food Network filmed a pilot Pitmaster on the Road that didn't air
What: BBQ
Brick Street BBQ claims to have the Best BBQ in Texas. Reality or Texas braggadocio? Of course skepticism abounds when the first words Texan babies learn are not ma ma and da da but big and best.
Brick Street typifies the roadside BBQ shack synonymous with great BBQ. The parking lot was pleasantly occupied. All this pointed toward finding some of the best possible food that the locals want to keep to themselves. Maybe Best BBQ isn't much of a stretch.
Beef Brisket Sandwich. Brisket wasn't my thing until I had Cooper's brisket in Fort Worth. Then I understood what good brisket was about. Then I had Brick Street's brisket bettering Cooper's and making it the best brisket I've had to date in my limited experience. Warm, smoky, juicy, tender. It was great as is without the BBQ sauce. The BBQ sauce only enhanced the experience.
So is Brick Street's claim of the best braggadocio or reality? It was reality for me, the best brisket and the best pulled pork I've had although the natives will certainly claim they've had better in Texas. If Brick Street is great with few if any making a pilgrimage here, how much better is Salt Lick, Pecan Lodge, Kreuz Market, and Franklin's?
Dive. I couldn't help but think of Boss Hogg's Boar's Nest. The staff however wasn't the friendliest and certainly not even ballpark competition for Daisy Duke.
Bottom Line: The Real Deal
