Happy Grill appears much nicer on the outside than inside. The first impression walking in is a greasy dingy dive despite the abundance of sunlight streaming in.
Chicken Mole, Chile Relleno, Carne de Puerco, Tamale. The Relleno was outstanding with a sweeter and deeper flavor than usually present in this offering. The Mole was about what was expected, not really a favorite for me. The tamale was on the dry side but definitely enhanced from verde sauce from the Carne de Puerco.
Caldo de Camaron. I couldn't believe they were offering huge prawns in a buffet setting. The soup itself was delicious but the prawns had soaked too long becoming mealy.
Menudo. This was fantastic with only the slightest among of lingering offal taste. I went back for thirds.
With a steady stream of Mexican clientele arriving, I figured it had to be decent. It was.
