Bellisio's of the Grandma's conglomerate was an unexpected great find. The sophisticated palates probably wouldn't rate it a four star Italian restaurant but for my limited experience Italian palate, it's the best I had to date. I consider it better than D'Amico Cuccina in Minneapolis (closed June 27, 2009) although that could be highly influenced by the food ordered.

Shrimp and Asparagus Risotto ($17.99) - a lobster broth infused Italian Arborio rice with sauteed shrimp, asparagus, cream, Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, and roma tomatoes. This was one heavenly meal, much better than anticipated. The shrimp was masterfully cooked with a tender snap. The same can be said of the asparagus cooked to perfection and still retaining it's snap. The rice was near perfect but could have been cooked just a bit more for my preference.

Calamari ($10.99). The menu describes this as "tender, lightly coated premium squid quickly fried, and served with roasted red pepper and aioli dipping sauce". This was undoubtedly the best fried calamari I've had. The squid was tender unlike the rubber-like squid served at other establishments plus it did not have a greasy taste. I could have eaten the aioli alone by the spoonful.
