babidabida 밥이답이다 Our Home Food Empire - Incheon International Airport ICN

CLOSED

Visited June 24, 2018

The jet lands in Terminal 1. I walk the cavernous almost empty expanse of the terminal early morning. It's clean, bright, airy, and modern. Most shops are closed.  My connecting flight is in the Concourse. As big as Terminal 1 is and with a plethora of restaurant options, I figure the Concourse would be equally equipped. I am wrong. Terminal 1 is the largest terminal and the Concourse is an ant compared against colossus Terminal 1. The Concourse sorely lacks restaurant options.

The underground shuttle train signs warns that once you go beyond Terminal 1, you cannot return. I am not about to violate law here and sustain baton strikes.

I settle on the Food Empire group. I stop at babidabida and order Rice with Spicy Pork Belly. My mind is in a fog and after I place my order awaiting to be buzzed, I ponder if I made the right decision ordering spicy food early morning.

What's the proper way to eat this?  Do I stir and mix it?  What about the seaweed?  How is that eaten. I observe the surrounding diners.  They open the seaweed packet, use chopsticks to pick one sheet out and put it into the rice in the main entree.  I do likewise.  I also mix the contents of the entree.

The dish is spicy but tolerable as my head forms sweat beads. It's deliciously fresh, spicy, sweet, savory, and a contrast of textures and tastes that agrees with me.  Not extraordinary but simply satisfying and comforting.

Museum of Korean Culture.  My mind is still in a fog so I'm not focused.  It has fewer artifacts than I imagined.  The lighting at this time in the morning in the museum is set low dim so I don't make a focused effort to read and appreciate the details.
