P. F. Chang's #102 - Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport DTW

What makes PF Chang's successful? I look over the menu of American Chinese options and Chang's offers basically the same options as thousands of American Chinese restaurant dotting the US. The one notable difference is Chang's charges about twice what the competition charges for the same entree.  Marketing genius. In the public's mind, more expensive equates to better quality resulting in higher demand.

This is my second time at a PF Chang. The first time I found it above average for a typical American Chinese restaurant. I found the Sesame Chicken here today to be fresher tasting, lighter, and better prepared than podunk American Chinese restaurants.

Chinese food is undervalued in the US. The US consumer expects Chinese food to be cheap. Why must a plate of Sesame Chicken at a Chinese restaurant price under $10 while a plain chicken breast topped with a fancy sounding sauce at a white table restaurant prices at over $20? PF Chang charges a competitive price compared against equivalent quality western restaurants.
