RD's previously located in Brampton moved a few kilometers south into a former Wendy's here in Mississauga. The Brampton restaurant was a dive and with the move, RD's transformed the decor into the 21st century.
I wasn't impressed with RD's in Brampton but I figured to give them another shot, wondering if the move would make a difference in food quality and desirability. I ordered the the acid test of BBQ beef brisket but the waitress said they were all out of brisket for the day. I've had poor luck with pulled pork, another acid test, so I settled on a half rack of ribs which in my estimation is the easiest of the BBQ to make well.
As it turns out, the ribs weren't ready and they were still smoking or cooking a fresh batch and it was about 45 minutes before my order came out.
The ribs didn't taste smoked but appeared oven baked and for certain not baked long enough. It appears they then turned on the broiler to give it some charring on top. It certainly looked like the oven baked and broiled ribs I make only mine is fall off the bone tender and with flavor to the core, and certainly not needing BBQ sauce as this rack did.
RD's still is not up to par in the new location. RD's can't compete against the Southern US pitmasters.
