What: Top 10 Best New Burger Spot 2010
What's the thought process behind opening a family burger joint in a district with strip clubs a few doors down? Inside Foster Burger rocks with loud music, the walls covered with indie group concert 8-1/2 x 11s, dimly illuminated hipster den, and with mostly young clientele.
Foster Burger. Just a plain burger A plain hamburger is the acid test of a burger cook's mettle. In that regard then, this review is unfair because most other burgers downed were typically signature cheeseburgers capped with specialty toppings. But then this review may be the most fair because it is judged on the bun and the patty only.
The Philippe Bread sesame brioche bun has a high bun to meat ratio but then I believe the bun is designed to house two patties. Toppings included lettuce, house pickles, onions, and Foster sauce, The Foster sauce tasted like milder less tarty Thousand Island dressing. The reportedly all natural hormone free patty arrived char grilled medium to medium well. The good charred flavor stood out. The patty has a slightly loose texture and wasn't as juicy as expected. Medium rare would have been better. Cost: $6. Rating: 8.7
The young waitress pushed hard to sell sides and desserts.
Bottom Line: 70% real deal
