The cheap no name GPS kept me circling and telling me where The Hitching Post was but wasn't. Off the main drag, their sign lacks prominence. After driving out into the boonies in darkness, I was well sure going to eat at The Hitching Post. Persistence paid off.
The meal started off with a basket of excellent Italian bread and olive oil dip. Crunchy chewy crust with a soft interior. The dinner was starting off promising and proving the drive worthwhile.
Lobster Ravioli, seared sea scallops, and exotic mushrooms tossed in a lobster truffled sherry cream reduction. The scallops were perfectly seared and I wished the plate came with more than three. The ravioli filling contained lobster bits and heavy cheese. The mushrooms were earthy and provided a nice spongy bite and a reprieve from the heaviness of the cream. The cream was comforting, sweet, savory, with a hint of the sherry. Overall an excellent meal that exceeded my expectations, especially for a small town. I walked away happy and stuffed.
Service throughout was professional, quick, and non-intrusive.
