CLOSED Sept(?) 2018Axel's Bonfire is a sit down option in the Minneapolis Airport and with a local reputation. In that regard the Minneapolis Airport is better than most other large airports in that it has more good restaurants than typical.
The Bonfire Classic is an Axel's signature dishes. A test of a great burger is not how it tastes on the first bite but on the last, how you feel about the burger at the end. The first bite had of the 1/2 lb Angus ground chuck patty had a fantastic char grilled taste along with a good spicy kick leading. The burger that was ordered medium was medium well to well. The bites were becoming more bland as the toppings of smoked ham, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, and chipotle mayo eventually overpowered the patty. The last few bites had me wondering what happened to that first bite, especially as the patty had an elastic and not necessarily top quality freshness. The toasted white bun didn't hold up with the last few bites. The guts squished out. The Swiss cheese was a bit player. Price: $12.95 including choice of a side Rating: 8.4
Service was pleasant and efficient.
