In proximity to 3M, Peking likely caters to the well paid employees and maybe that’s why Peking Way charges $6.95 for the lunch buffet with another $1 for drinks. All other buffets I’ve been to so far in the Twin Cities included drinks in their price.
On a day in the mid 80’s outside, the temperature was about the same inside. Either they didn't turn on the air conditioning or it wasn't working. There was no sign to indicate which. Is that a technique to get big eaters out sooner? It could backfire and cause incoming customers to do a turnabout.
The food was average at best catering to those accustomed to Americanized Chinese food. Selection was limited to about 20 main entree offerings with a varied chicken dishes galore. They weren’t slow to refill the trays. The best entree was the Mongolian Beef which had a slight wok hay taste. The egg rolls had the paper thin wrapper and a chicken stuffing. They were better than the typical egg roll. The mei fun was fairly decent. The lo mein was overcooked and insipid. The Egg Foo Young was not “eggy” at all. It was airy fluffy lacking substance, tasting like watered down filler with lots of onion bits.
Bottom line: Overpriced and underwhelming. It a non-repeat for me.
