翰騰閣 House of Canton – Kowloon

CLOSED

Shop 40 LG2/F Festival Walk, 80 Tat Chee Ave, Kowloon Tong

Canton House is proof that fancy(-ier) ingredients and excellent service does not equate to grander tasting food. The food shown represents fine dining, supposedly higher class reserved for the well off crowds but it didn’t taste that much better. There was an air of pretentiousness and status associated with eating at this establishment. However the food fell short.

Shrimp and Apple salad. Rating 7.9

Shark Fin Soup. I must have had 3 bowls. Rating 8.4

Pei Pa duck. Rating 7.2

Squid and Zucchini. Rating: 7.2

Grouper? One of my favorites for the evening with the soft tender flaky flesh. 7.7

Garlic Bread 7.0

Curry Crab. It took more effort to get to the meat than was worth it… 6.8

Tapioca Dessert. Bland. 6.8

A friend invited us here for the prix fixe dinner. She was well intentioned and we avoided telling her that this was a less than spectacular meal.
