I forget the name of this Chicken dish. It's not included in their online menu but under the Chicken section of their in-house menu. I am informed it is not an authentic dish. In my mind I envisioned a dish full of bite sized chicken pieces with a light covering of gravy. Instead the waitress brings this sizzling hot cast iron plate to my table with burritos cut diagonally stood on end. The lo carb diet gets tossed out the window.
Other initial impressions: It looks delicious. It's an appetizer, not a complete meal. It doesn't meet my definition of a light coat of gravy. Now I understand why they label it non-authentic. Where's the chicken?
The chicken vegetable filling and sauce have a mild to moderate spicy kick which suits me right. The more subtle flavors escape me but it has plenty of umami. The soft textures please and comfort the palate. The sharper edges of the vegetable stand above the softer chicken. The expression the whole is greater than the sum applies here. I'm happy with the output but not the volume.
