After eating much Indian food, some of the names and what they mean are finally sinking into this thick head. And after eating much Indian food, I'm finally figuring out what is authentic tasting versus what is adjusted for the Western palate. With that said, Haveli offers Indian food that is the most toned down I've had to date for the Western palate. It's not a bad thing per se but it is something be to aware of if you come here expecting a blast of the real thing.
Lamb Bhartha, Aloo Gobi (cauliflower), Goat Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Tandoori, Shahi Paneer (cheese).
During lunch, Haveli offers about 10 different main entree items and about 10 sides. In that regard, Haveli offers fewer items than the competition in typical Indian buffets I've encountered. What they lack in quantity is offset by the ingredient quality. As mentioned, the food is toned down for the Western palate. The goat curry is labeled as spicy but it barely registered, certainly no spicier that black pepper level. The tandoori chicken is above average in flavor and is not the typical overcooked over dry found in most buffets. The most flavorful dish for me is the aloo gobi.
The staff here seems plenty friendly and helpful compared to typical Indian restaurants. However whoever manned the phone earlier really needs to learn phone etiquette.
The $10 price tag makes the buffet a decent value.
Food: ★★1/2
Service: ★★3/4
Probability of making an out of the way return: 1%
Probability of returning if in the area: 45%
