What: Chimi Dog, Chicago Dogs

Colorful, kitschy, old fashioned, and the owner's dad is clown Pennywise.

Steve's offers burgers and dogs. The dogs are offered in mind numbing variations well known as well as unique to Steve's. Their burgers have been written up in the local papers and magazines. While I was tempted to go for a burger, I ultimately chose a dog. What did I choose?

Chicago Dog and Chili Cheese Fries. Once you've had a Chicago Dog in Chicago, you can't help but compare a Chicago Dog made outside of Chicago against the Chicago made Chicago. Know what I mean?

Steve's Chicago Dog is quite faithful but not exactly faithful to the Chicago model.  What's different? The dog has a standard bun rather than a poppy seed bun. Steve's also uses brown mustard rather than yellow mustard. Red onions are used instead of white onions. Also I don't recall any celery salt.

How is the Chicago Dog? Even though it wasn't exactly faithful, it is still a very tasty creation and probably one that I could eat every day. The dog has a good snap. All the components worked well together and the mustard did not overpower the dog. It isn't too salty either. Good job!

The Chili Cheese Fries is equal to the Chicago Dog, possibly even better. Cheesy, chili-ey, and good fries makes this a meal. Who needs Canadian poutine when this American alternative of fries is just as good if not better. My only complaint with this dish is that it seemed overly salty as I neared the bottom of the basket.
