Visually Day & Day is incongruous with all the other restaurants in this strip mall. The other restaurants portray an image of high class. Day & Day strips away the face and pretentiousness. It's a husband and wife team that runs this dive hole in the wall restaurant. The vestibule is plywood, not modern clean glass. If you want real food at good prices without feeling you have to put on the rich snooty facade, dine here.
Beef, Preserved Sour Mustard. The protein is skimpy but otherwise delicious. The vegetables leaned too tart but it is sour mustard.
There is only one cook, the husband. The dishes take awhile to arrive.
Eggplant Tofu Hot Pot. Excellent dish that is midway between home cooking and restaurant quality. The protein again is skimpy. Otherwise, this is another tasty dish.
Fish and Vermicelli Hot Pot. My favorite dish with flaky fish and wonderfully spicy salted seasoned vermicelli.
Orange Pork Chop. Typically I avoid this dish but this version is the best I've yet to have. Natural tasting orangy flavor, not too tart, meaty, tender. Great stuff.
Meals as these can only be so wonderful if replete with delicious but pernicious fat.
