A colleague recommended Taqueria Saltillo who prefers California over Tex-Mex style tacos. It's located inside the back of a gas station, which came as a surprise. I was expecting a dedicated store front.
Lengua, Tripa, Chicharron, and Pastor tacos with corn torillas. Made to order. These were all nice, fresh, hot, and good. My favorite was the chicharron. Were these the greatest tacos I've ever had? No, but they were very good and way better than the prominent Taco Bell a few blocks east. I'm assuming Taco Bell survives because some folks need familiarity and an assurance of standard hygiene.
I'd stop in again if I was in the neighborhood but wouldn't make an out of the way trip here.
