We waited about 5 minutes for a table to open. I took it to be a sign Nigel's prepared some great soul food.

The wait for the food was long and painful but so worth it.  The prices are also higher than expected but then so worth it.

Stewed Chicken with Okra Soup and Rice and Gravy. I've had boiled chicken but never stewed chicken. The meat was fantastic, moist, tender, more Asian flavored than traditional American yet not Asian. The rice and gravy complimented the chicken.

Fried Pork Chops with Collard Greens and Black-eye Pea Fried Rice. The pork chops were great despite being the weakest of the three entrees. The gravy was overly salty. I enjoyed the smoky black eye pea fried rice probably most on this plate.

Low Country Ravioli. It looks to be a hot mess but what an amazingly delicious mess! Creamy, savory, contrasting textures, great mouthfeel. This was the best of the three dishes. I must have gained a pound eating this.

To this day, Nigel's remains one of the most favorite and memorable restaurant.  Nigel's should be featured nationally.
