Mama Leo's - Portland, OR

CLOSED 11/13/2016.  When I came here, we were the only party present. Traffic was nonexistent and I felt they may close. It is location and lack of advertising?

6728 NE Sandy Blvd

This was my first foray into Venezuelan food and it started with the host/waitress most charming and accommodating.

Arepa con Carne. Chicken in the background, lengua in front. Arepas are Venezuelan flatbread/corn cakes split open and made into sandwiches with various fillings. The arepas were little sandwiches with the arepa offering a nice contrast to the carne filling. The lengua was mild whereas I expected a kick. The portions could have been more generous for us gluttonous obese Americans.

The food had no distinct taste that screamed "Oh, that's what Venezuelan food tastes like".
