Many restaurants I encounter evoke little emotion. The food and service are just there neither leading to me like or dislike it. And if asked if I would recommend the restaurant, I would provide a noncommittal wishy washy middle of the road response that would do Clinton proud. Such is the case with La Tolteca.
Camarones a la Diabla comprises as per the menu large size shrimp (10) cooked with special herbs and spices, rice, “La casa” salad, and flour tortillas.
If your shrimp eating has solely been popcorn sized, the shrimp on the plate would by comparison be large but I considered the shrimp medium sized as large shrimp is 25 count or lesser. The shrimp came blanketed in a heavy cream based sauce. Due to the spiciness, I was unable to detect any special herbs or spices but it was flavorful. The shrimp was slightly overcooked, flat, and stringy. The rice and salad provided welcome relief from the heat.
