Cousin's Bar-B-Q - Dallas Forth Worth International Airport DFW Terminal D

CLOSED.  Cousins is no longer in Terminal D but has relocated with two restaurants in Terminal B by Gate 12 and Gate 34.

Near Gate D28

TV Exposure: Big Bad BBQ Brawl BBQ Brisket Brawl Season 1, Episode 1  however it is the Bryant Irvin Road location featured, not this airport outpost.

BBQ isn't common as airport food so it was an easy choice to stop in at Cousin's.

Sliced Beef Brisket Sandwich with a Broccoli Rice Casserole side and Pecan Tart. One look at the sliced cuts and I thought it was going to be dry and flavorless. I was wrong. It was moist, tender, and flavorful even though it was quite lean. The bark was smoky without being excessive while the core of the cut was flavorful. It was well seasoned and flavored that BBQ sauce was unnecessary but still lightly drizzled on for tang.

The broccoli and rice was savory, flavorful, and moist without being mushy. The pecan tart was decent if ordinary.

The brisket was unexpectedly good. Obviously a big factor is the luck of the cut but technique is also important. Some reviews say Cousin's is average to below average. For me Cousin's was unexpectedly good.
