Delux builds a dainty burger that seems to fit the dainty neighborhood for the dainty customers. On a mid afternoon well after the lunch hour crunch, I stopped in and enjoy the place all to myself with fast prompt service.
The Delux Burger. Delux recommended it medium rare. I ordered it medium rare and it arrived medium rare. However for a thin to medium thickness patty as this, medium rare fails because the outside is merely grayed, lacking the heat sink required to produce a charred exterior with a pink interior.
The Niman Ranch all natural grain fed patty was lukewarm inside with a mandatory hot exterior absent. The patty was moist, juicy, and tender but on the airy side. The burger had a moderately beefy taste but more prominent was the caramelized onion. The applewood smoked bacon flavor provided nice background. The baby arugula provided a frequent sting. The demi-baguette was drier, heftier, and chewier than I anticipated. The Gruyere and Maytag bleu didn't assert themselves. Price: $10.95. Rating: 9.0. Give me a more manly burger.
