中華牛羊館 Chinese Halal Restaurant – Scarborough, ON

CLOSED early 2016(?)

668 Silver Star Blvd

Service was slow in coming. A customer even left because he seemingly felt ignored. At least we were acknowledged but in the end,it was worth the spotty service. The preparations were gems and exceeded any expectations we had going in.

Deep Fried Sesame Lamb Chops. This was the first dish out. Light almost to the point of being fluffy. Nongreasy, crispy texture, and super moist with a slight gamey lamb taste. Perfect.  This started off the evening with a bang.

Lamb Dumping 15 piece. The dumplings were intact and contain that wonderful masochistic burst of hot broth.

Handmade Beef Noodle Soup. Great fresh noodles and tender medallions of beef. Mei Nung Noodle, possibly the most renown beef noodle soup shop in the GTA could learn lessons from Chinese Halal on how to prepare this soup properly.

Lamb Pancake. The lamb was a tad rough and dry but the pancake was so wonderfully soft, moist, sweet, salty, and fluffy.

After this meal, Chinese Halal goes onto my must return list of GTA restaurants.  I can't remember the last time when every dish ordered was so magical.

Probability of making an out of the way return: 50%
Probability of returning if in the area: 95%
