I wanted to be immersed in real Colombian food so I as asked the owner what I should get. He made some some suggestions and almost seemed to steer me away from an offering that caught my eye, afraid that I may not suit the typical palate.
Bandeja Paisa. This was the dish that was most intriguing to me so I ordered it. It's been awhile since since I had this dish but I believe it consisted of read beans, fried egg, plantain, chorizo, chicharron, steak, plus a few things I don't recall. I have to say it was a goof introduction to Colombian food although no individual item made my mouth pop. It was all a little bland lacking vibrant eye opening flavors. Probably the item I enjoyed most was the chicharron. The chorizo was a little drier and not as fatty as I expected.
Sour Sop with Milk. Sweet, tart, thick, lively, and refreshing. I liked it.
