Miu Garden continues to survive and thrive in an changing and evolving restaurant landscape of Village Market. It must be doing something right.
The dim sum quality varies but it's the low prices off peak hours that brings back the value conscious/cheap customers back.
Cruller Cheung Fun, I'm a fan of these only at its freshest. Anything less than steaming hot and you might as well take it back to the kitchen. Since this had been on a cart for awhile, I wasn't a fan.
Crab claw balls, ?, and Sa Yung. Sa Yung is one of my favorites with a light fluffy airy texture unlike most Western pastries. Westernized Chinese restaurants offer something that on the outside appears to be these but they aren't nothing more than typical donuts in ball shape. I haven’t had the Sa Yung in so long and when I saw it, I immediately called for it. These weren't perfect but were a tad gummy undercooked but still I relished it.
Soup dumpling. This is a relatively uncommon but not rare offering. I believe it takes skill to make these.
Mui Garden offers the dim sum cheap at $1.80 after 1:30 PM. The place was packed with a queue outside before we arrived and continued when we left. The Chinese say if there is a line, it must be good.
It's definitely worth a trip back for the more uncommon dim sum offerings.
