At the edge of the Queen Emma Bridge to Punda, a person hands out me a
tiny sales flyer. I give it a cursory glance about to toss it, thinking
it's clothing or jewelry. It's a flyer for Bon Smak Bistro
claiming local foods served.
I walk into Punda intrigued with the cuisine potential. I see many restaurants that appear to cater to tourists and I wonder if Bon Smak is the same. No, it isn't. When I arrive, it appears empty. I hesitate to go in.
But I want to try Iguana Soup. I'm told these are wild caught. Who catches them and who supplies Bon Smak? Is it clean? I don't ask.
What does $6 Iguana taste like? Like dry white chicken breast, maybe a bit coarser and less stringy. The soup is tart and mildly salty, but could be mistaken for a form of chicken broth.
