Chicago's Best. I knew very little about this place walking through it but as I left and two police officers in two different vehicles parked and sauntered in for eats, I figured I hit the jackpot.
Pastrami Sandwich with Cheese, Mustard, and Horse Radish. Folks outside of the area likely haven't heard of Al & Joe's but it deserves more recognition. This pastrami sandwich beats the output of nationally renown Shapiro's. And while it's not corned beef, this sandwich beats iconic Manny's by a wide margin. Flavorful, moist, tender, and great mouthfeel.
At $10, it's not cheap but it's a lot more meat than Shapiro's that asks even more. As I reflect, I would say this is the cheapest large meat pastrami sandwich I've consumed lately.
