Ka Ka Lucky Seafood BBQ Restaurant – Toronto, ON

CLOSED  mid(?) 2016.  The restaurant sustained a fire, shut down, renovated, reopened, and rebranded as Wok & Roast.

349 Broadview Ave

In the harsh Toronto East Chinatown restaurant scene where restaurants change hands like people change underwear, Ka Ka Lucky has withstood the onslaught of the economy.  I believe it is the oldest longest surviving Chinese restaurant in this Chinatown, and if it isn't, it is near the top of the list.

Most of the competition has folded or moved to the north.

Ka Ka Lucky remains a popular stop for the many locals that lineup for take out Chinese Roasted Pork. Preparing roasted pork is more art than science and theirs remains fairly consistent, sometimes better than others.  Of course, it's highly dependent on the starting pig.

Garoupa.  I've had better here before.  Again they are typically good but can be uneven.

Ka Ka Lucky is old,  At times I wonder about hygiene standards and if they do just enough to pass health inspection.
