Steer Inn opens from 6:30 AM in the morning to 2:30 AM in the morning. That's some ungodly long work hours. Being late evening, I was suprised it was as busy as it was. I figured the drunks were greasing their stomachs for the alcohol fueled evening. I had low expectations walking into Steer Inn, thinking it would be a greasy run down ramshackle dive serving wafer thin tasteless burger patties. I love it when my low expectations are shattered.
Cheeseburger. The sesame bun is significant, sturdy, and fresh but provided a high bun to meat ratio. It's a large diameter burger. The cook asks you what you want for toppings and he'll put it on for you. Mustard, ketchup, lettuce, tomatoes, and large sliced pickles, American cheese. The thin patty, maybe a 1/4 inch, had a moderate beef taste. It came well done yet was nonetheless moist. Cost: $3.95, a bargain for the monster 4 in. diameter burger. Rating: 8.6. I've had worse at a much higher price.
This feels like a family owned/extended family run operation. The two older gentlemen behind the counter were family and provided decent professional service. Maybe it was a long day and they were tired but they didn't have their happy face on.
