Johnny's sits at the busy Madison and Indiana intersection competing against the corporate monsters In-N-Out and McDonald's and Farmer Boy a block south yet it manages to pack in the locals even before noon. You don't thrive much less survive in this ultra-competitive arena if you aren't doing something right.
Combo Burger
The patty came well done. The burger had more pastrami than ground beef. It's more correct to call this a great sandwich rather than a great burger. The smoky pastrami provides a rough chewy yet beefy taste in conjunction with the smoother patty. The toppings are proportioned just right and provide the desirable cool contrasting crunch. The cheese melds all the components together.
- Bun: Sesame. A little light in ratio for the combo. A little weak in holding together to the last bite.
- Toppings: Pastrami, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles
- Cheese: American?
- Meat: 1/4 in. thin patty
- Price: $4.25
- Rating: 8.8
Zucchini Fries. Tongue burning hot. A little flat but great with the Ranch dressing. The more I ate the better they tasted but they'll never replace French fries. It was expensive at $3.35.
