It took awhile but we finally settled on the posted four dish set dinner which appeared to be a bargain at a cent under $30. The meal started with the customary and complimentary soup.
The first entree to arrive was a glistening plate of lobster. It was a small and we wondered if it was a harbinger of the dishes to follow. It was deliciously garlicky on the surface I assumed stir fried in hot oil with garlic but lacked a deep soaked in flavor. Still it was great maybe because I hadn’t had lobster since I can’t remember when.
Beef and vegetables. The beef had been marinated to give it that soft texture that only Chinese restaurants seem capable of offering.
Chicken and tofu. Another pleasing, comforting, and texturally satisfying dish.
Lamb hot pot. It arrived sizzling and gave us with great anticipation. While good, it didn’t live up to the anticipation. It was for me the weakest of the 4 dishes. We’ve had much better in the GTA.
Dinner was capped with complimentary hot mung bean dessert.
The food doesn’t have the ultimate wok hay flavor but it was more than passable and for the price it was a great value. The service was better than usual for a Chinese restaurant. It’s definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area but it’s not worth making a special trip from the other side of town.
