Aristos - Stillwater, MN

CLOSED November 6, 2014

1180 Frontage Rd W

Aristos occupies what appears to be a former Hardee's so we had a preconceived notion that Aristos served Greek fast food. When we stopped in much to the our surprise, it was a nice mid-level sit down restaurant. No fast food counter here with a menu board behind. The second surprise was the cost.

Falafel appetizer - garbanzo and fava beans with tahini. These were one of the better ones in the TC but don't measure up to the best in the TC.

Souvlaki - pork tenderloin. I love the taste of the grilled food grilled well and the pork was grilled well. The pork wasn't quite as tender as anticipated.
Gyro with tzatziki. A good refined rendition but it lacks the manly beast essence a gyro ought to have. Fries were on par with what's expected.

Aristos still works to develop its legs. It's good but nothing unique to set it apart from its competition, and I don't believe they will. Service was very pleasant. The food is on the pricey side for the quality and quantity and my prediction is that it won't survive the long haul.
