Before noon a line snakes out of Otto's BBQ into the mall, which no other mall eatery can match. Surely the locals know something, right? Clueless, I observe those in front of me order. No trends, they're all over the menu board.
Ribs aren't offered so I choose Beef Brisket. Up to this point all brisket I've ate are like a desert in the mouth. I don't understand why brisket is popular. So here I am about to eat for Texas cooked brisket for the first time..True to experience, this Texas brisket is not only chicken breast dry but bland. The brisket has a weak smoky flavor. I douse it with BBQ sauce which makes for easier chew, but the sauce is an insipid watered down sweet and sour sauce.
Texas BBQ is supposed to be the real deal but this is a real disappointment.
