We flew from Charles De Gaulle airport to Luton Airport. Then it was an 1-1/2 hour bus journey to London. We arrived at Victoria Station hungry. What looks good when you're hungry? Besides everything, a buffet. And it was only £5.99.
As I ate the pizza, I thought of the old saw the British don't know how to cook. The pizzas were minimalist with mediocre ingredients at best. The meat on the pizza reminded me of the lone cube of fat in Van Camp's pork and beans.
The rest of the buffet was carbohydrate city with pasta, fruits, and salads. Dr. Atkins would pass on this buffet. Despite my hunger, two plates dulled my taste buds.
So is the pizza offering a result of Fresh Pizza attempting to keep cost down, British cooking for the British palate, or both? I vote for both, and I vote not to return.
